I recently purchased your “Tinnitus Formula with Ginkgo Max 26/7” to control my tinnitus. I studied much of the subject matter on tinnitus relief and found that Ginkgo biloba combined with ECg 761 had a better result than other formulas without it.
I purchased the Starter Kit of your tinnitus formula but didn’t see any mention of ECg 761. Does your formula with Ginkgo Max 26/7 contain ECg 761 (as I assume) or, if not, do you have a ginkgo that does? Your response would be very welcomed.
You mean EGb 761. This is what ginkgo extract is called in Europe. It was named by the Dr. Wilmar Schwabe company in Germany that developed the first extract. In the US this is known as standardized Ginkgo biloba Extract 24/6 named for the amounts of flavonol glycosides and terpene lactones in the extract.
The Europeans are very strict in their regulation of dietary supplements. The US, not so much so. Consumer Labs has tested many ginkgo brands and found that 77% of them sold in the US do not contain the specific amounts of certain components required to qualify as the standardized extract. There are some good products that do contain everything required but there is no way to know for certain if you’re getting the good products or not.
Ginkgo Max 26/7Ò was developed by Arches to contain higher amounts of these components than required for EGb 761. It was designed specifically for people with tinnitus. It is a more highly refined and powerful extract that exceeds any other ginkgo product including EGb 761.
Wishing you quiet times,
I use your products religiously, but have a important question. My wife receives a “Health newsletter” and in this month’s edition they listed Ginkgo biloba as “avoid” using due to the National Toxicology Program report published in 2013 that there is evidence Ginkgo biloba caused liver cancer in mice and some evidence Ginkgo caused thyroid cancer in rats. Can you please respond to this study?
This is a controversial report from the National Toxicology Program. The American Botanical Council has called into question and refuted many of the assumptions of the report and urges people not to be misled by it.
First, the amount fed to the laboratory mice was an astounding 2,000 mg per kilogram (2.2 lbs) of body weight, taken every day over a period of 2 years. This is equivalent to me (at 165 lbs or 75 kg) taking 150,000 mg daily, an over 300-fold increase of my daily dosage. The total daily dosage of our proprietary ginkgo, Ginkgo Max 26/7®, in Arches Tinnitus Formula is 480 mg.
Second, the Ginkgo extract used was not a commercial preparation used in the United States or anywhere else. It was a sub-standard product from China that “did not conform to well established chemical profiles, quality and purity” of the leading extracts used in commercial Ginkgo biloba. The amounts of the individual components, ginkgo flavone glycosides, terpene lactones, bilobalide and ginkgolides were far in excess of anything found in commercial ginkgo. The extract itself has not been used in any commercial preparation.
Lastly, Ginkgo biloba has been used safely since its original formulation in the 1960’s by the Willmar Schwabe Co. of Germany. Tens of millions of people use ginkgo daily and it is the #2 prescribed medicine in Germany and France, where it is considered a prescription medication. It is one of the world’s most popular herbs. Were it to really cause cancer, we would have known this a long time ago. This report is an outlier and should not be considered representative of real-world conditions.
Wishing you quiet times,
This is a very technical question. Basically, Ginkgo biloba acts as a vasodilator, increasing blood flow to the cochlea and supporting hearing; it is a powerful antioxidant, repairing damage to hearing nerves; most importantly, it is a glutamate antagonist, the primary cause of tinnitus, which calms the auditory pathway and prevents over-excitement of hearing nerves. Zinc picolinate is also a powerful antioxidant. For a more detailed description, please visit Arches Tinnitus Formula: The Science Behind the Product.
Ginkgo is a fairly expensive herb and many manufacturers cut corners to make their ginkgo less expensive. Some even intentionally adulterate their extract. Consumer Labs reported in 2007 that over 75% of ginkgo products failed to meet the minimum requirements of the standardized extract. Arches uses our proprietary Ginkgo Max 26/7, which exceeds all requirements of the standardized extract. Yes. The Commission E in Germany is considered to be the most authoritative source in the world for the use of herbal medications. The Commission E Monographs is the official government document that prescribes use of herbal medications for ailments. The Commission has studied Ginkgo biloba extract for 30 years and was the first to stipulate the use of a 24/6 standardized extract. The Monographs state that there is no toxic limit for Ginkgo biloba and there are no side effects.
Arches Tinnitus Formula™ does not interact with any prescription or over-the-counter medication. It is perfectly safe to continue use of any prescription medication with ATF. Tinnitus Formula does increase circulation and has a mild anticoagulant function. Because of this, some people should exercise caution. People who are taking prescription anticoagulants, such as Coumadin, or who have a history of bleeding problems such as hemophilia, frequent nosebleeds, hemorrhaging, etc. should consult their physician before using ATF.
If you’re taking other zinc products, please keep in mind that zinc should not be taken above 50 mg unless it is also supplemented with 2-5 mg copper and 5-10 mg manganese.
For the great majority of people, ATF is a maintenance program and must be continued in order to keep the volume at a reduced level. There is one study that indicates that some people, especially those with recent onset of tinnitus, can be cured but this should not be anticipated. In the summer of 2000 I stopped taking ATF as an experiment. In about a week the noise level started increasing and becoming more piercing so I resumed my regular dosage. I have heard many of our patrons recount the same experience.

Unfortunately there is no “quick fix” for tinnitus. Most individuals who experience a reduction of the ringing sound, do so in 8-12 weeks, although some will take longer, some may take less. Everyone is different. Numerous ENT doctors tell their patients to use it continuously for at least 90-100 days (4 bottles) before deciding how helpful it will be. After the noise level begins declining, it should continue to do so for several months.
Recommended dosage is 4 capsules taken daily – 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening, usually with a meal.
My question is regarding B vitamins, and how they can be toxic. I have had doctors tell me that taking to many much B vitamins can cause permanent nerve damage. What amount of B vitamins do you have to take and for how long before they become toxic?
Thanks for asking this question. It is a valid concern and not many people are aware of any toxic levels for B vitamins. B vitamins are essential in that they enable many of the basic functions of metabolism in the body.
Generally, B Vitamins are water soluble and flush through the body quickly. For this reason they need to be replenished on a daily basis. Most of the B vitamins are non-toxic at any level but there are some for which you should be careful.
Vitamin B3 (niacin) – At doses higher than 50 mg per day, skin flushing may occur with some forms of niacin. This is harmless and only lasts a few minutes. Arches uses niacinamide which generally does not cause flushing. Therapeutic doses of 1500 to 1600 mg per day can be used but with the risk of liver toxicity. Arches Tinnitus Stress Formula contains 100 mg.
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) – Diarrhea can occur at doses of 10 – 20 grams per day. Arches Stress Formula contains 100 mg.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) – An acute toxic dosage has not been established but B6 may cause neurotoxicity at a dose of 300 to 500 mg per day. Arches Stress Formula contains 100 mg.
Vitamin B9 (folic acid) – Doses above 1000 mcg (micrograms) could conceal the signs of vitamin B12 deficiency in older people. Arches Tinnitus B12 Formula contains 400 mcg of methylfolate, a superior form of folic acid which does not need to be metabolized for absorption. It also contains 1,000 mcg of vitamin B12.
The B vitamin your doctor was most likely referring to is B6, which can cause nerve damage. However, Arches Stress Formula and most other companies B-complex vitamins have dosages well below the threshold level for any damage.

Yes. In order to gain maximum benefits, Tinnitus Stress and B-12 Formulas should be used on a regular basis.
B-complex vitamins vitamins while not directly reducing the tinnitus will support Tinnitus Relief Formula™ by providing increased energy, creating a sense of wellbeing and calming the nervous system. B-12 is known as the “energy vitamin” and is used frequently by health professionals to treat a wide variety of nervous disorders.
Because B-complex vitamins including B-12 cannot be stored in the body, it is important to take both on a daily basis. Dosage for Arches Tinnitus Stress Formula™ is two capsules daily. Arches Tinnitus B-12 Formula™ take one lozenge under the tongue every day. Due to the body’s inability to absorb B-12 when swallowed as a pill, it absorbed better when dissolved under the tongue sending it directly into the blood stream.
